Weekly Wisdom in a new series where I share healing bits and pieces that individually didn’t have enough substance to make up a full post. I’ll share recipes that I’ve tried, recent discoveries, random cooking tips, favorite products, etc. It’s like a peak into my Holistic Health Junk Drawer!
I really did plan to do a Weekly Wisdom every Friday, but that was a bit unrealistic. Let’s shoot for at least 2 times per month, because my schedule is a bit full right now. That negates the point of “weekly” in the title, but I think the title is catchy so I’m not going to change it 🙂
Healthy products that I’m loving:
In first grade, before I was started homeschool, I remember eating lunch with my friends at school. Amanda’s mother always packed her these beautiful, complex Chinese lunches in a tiered metal lunch box. Amanda would delicately eat the fragrant content with chopsticks. The rest of us had PB and J in Ziplock baggies, so we were thoroughly intrigued by Amanda’s lunch routine.
So, ever since first grade, I’ve always wanted a fancy, tiered lunch box. I recently bought this stainless tiered lunch box from Amazon and I love it! With my restricted diet, I must take a meal with me when I am gone for a while. Sometimes, I’ll stick an ice pack in the center tier to keep things cold if I can’t put the whole thing in a fridge. I’m also a fan of the stainless steel– I prefer not to store my food in plastic whenever possible.
I think Bach flower essences are effective and gentle ways to support the healing journey. Dr. Bach stated that Crab Apple “helps you accept your physical imperfections and feel better about who you are.” I’ve shared before how important it is to love your body–just as it is–at every moment. But believe me… I know how challenging that can be.
I’ve been taking this crab apple essence for about a month. I honestly believe that is helps me view my physical imperfections in a positive light!
Free, healing stuff that I’m loving:
- I recently discovered the Do Yoga With Me website. It has tons of free stretching and yoga videos, all free! I’ve been doing one designed to relieve shoulder tightness and it is very effective.
- I used to do the Daily Energy Routine each morning, but I fell out of the habit. I forgot how rejuvenating and healing this simple five minute process is! Here is the video for the energy routine.
Healing quote of the week:
“Perfectionism is a dream killer, because it’s just fear disguised as trying to do your best. It just is.” –Mastin Kipp
As a recovering perfectionist, this quote struck a chord with me. Perfectionism is not healthy! I used to convince myself that my perfectionism in school and other areas of life would pay off. I now know the ONLY only reward for perfectionism is unnecessary stress.
Are you a recovering perfectionist, too? Have you tried Bach Flower Essences? And are you obsessed with cute lunch boxes?
I love your warning. Like Maya Angelou says, “Don’t bring negative to my door!”
Yeah, who needs the negative? Thanks for your sweet comment!
No, I’ve not tried Bach Flower Essences, because I don’t understand the similarities and differences between them and essential oils. Maybe you could elucidate or point me to a resource?
I am certainly not the expert, but I think the essences utilize the actual vibration of the flower to help heal imbalance in the body. Essential oils have a vibrational quality, but they also have other aspects of the plant. For example, they have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Does anybody else want to add to this point? I’m not really sure I have the right answer.
