Ayurvedic Digestion Tea Recipe
Serves: Makes as much or as little tea as you like!
This gentle, traditional Ayurvedic Digestion tea uses only three herbs you likely have in your pantry right now. For digestion support, enjoy this tea hot - not iced. Ayurvedic tradition says that chilled beverages can diminish the digestive fire ("agni") while hot teas nurture digestion.
For an individual serving
  • ¼ tsp. coriander seeds
  • ¼ tsp. cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp. fennel seeds
  • 2 cups of water
For a larger batch of tea (combine in a jar)
  • 1 part coriander seeds
  • 1 part cumin seeds
  • 1 part fennel seeds
  1. You can make a jarful of the tea at a time, or just measure out the individual herbs for a single serving.
  2. I prefer to use slightly less cumin seeds. I think the flavor can be a bit overpowering. For example, if I'm filling a jar with the tea blend, I'll use ¼ cup coriander, ¼ cup fennel, and ¼ cup minus 1 Tbs. cumin seeds.
  3. Place ¾ - 1 tsp. of the blended herbs in 2 cups of water in a pot or kettle. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 4-5 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
