Probiotics are not created equal, since most probiotics on the market lack native bacterial strains – strains that permanently support healthy digestion. For high-potency, clinical-strength probiotics, I use and recommend this one and this one.

Essential oils are a tricky topic to navigate. Personally, I don’t use oils from the two Multi-Level-Marketing companies. I have read a couple reports that a couple of their oils have been – or may still be – compromised in purity and I prefer to support smaller companies and . I use this line of oils, as they are carefully selected for purity and sustainability.
My Essential Blender
Don’t zap your uterus or fry your swimmers. In other words, put a Defenderpad under your laptop to block the radiation from penetrating your vital organs! As I discuss in this post, laptops produce significant amounts of electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) that are shown to disrupt physiological function. Also, if you wear your phone on your body (like in a pocket) I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a Defendershield case. Holistic Skin and Body Care

I use a half-and-half blend of organic jojoba oil and organic macadamia nut oil as a moisturizer. It absorbs beautifully and helps to balance my acne-prone skin. I wash my face with honey in the morning and do oil cleansing in the evening. Rose Witch Hazel makes a lovely scented toner and I use it after cleansing. I remove makeup with my DIY Makeup Remover. I also highly recommend the skin oils and cleansers from BeautyCounter.
I’ll admit it… I’m a non-toxic makeup connoisseur. Through trial and error, I’ve found cosmetics that offer performance without sacrificing ingredient safety. I don’t have a favorite brand of non-toxic makeup, but I do have some favorite products. Here is my list of my non-toxic makeup picks for sensitive skin (if I could suggest just one thing, it would be the Lip Sheers from BeautyCounter).
Did you know that many sunscreens are highly toxic? Further, some sun exposure to unprotected skin is vital for health. Additionally, a nutrient-dense diet acts as internal sunscreen and reduces your susceptibility to sun damage. A non-toxic sunscreen, however, should be used for prolonged sun exposure to prevent burning. I reach for the following: MyChelle Sunscreen (perfect for acne-prone skin), Badger Baby Sunscreen (what I use on my body), and BeautyCounter Sunscreen (great for face and body, with a matte finish). You can also make your own sunscreen by mixing just a pinch of non-nano zinc oxide (very affordable) or MOSS sunscreen powder (less affordable) into your moisturizer.
I use Primal Pit Paste, the natural deodorant that actually works! Baking soda and coconut oil eliminate smell, while shea butter moisturizes and arrowroot absorbs moisture.
Tampons contain harmful bleaches and dioxins that are absorbed through the vaginal skin. Even the chemical residues from pads can be absorbed into the body. I am a proud menstrual cup convert. No leaks, and clean sheets every night!

Eat The Yolks is an accessible and light-hearted book offering a thorough discussion on the what, why and how of Real Food. I’ve highlighted, underlined and dog-eared my copy from cover to cover! Although a very comprehensive explanation of nutrition and the politics behind nutrition, it is not heavy and is truly a pleasure to read.
Diet and Lifestyle Manual
I highly recommend Your Personal Paleo Code for those who want a comprehensive resource for re-balancing your body through a tailored nutrition, exercise, and supplemental approach. It focuses on addressing imbalances including weight, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue or chronic fatigue.
Healing Chronic Disease
I use a combination of the GAPS Diet (outlined in Gut and Psychology Syndrome) and the Autoimmune Paleo Protocol (outlined in The Paleo Approach) to holistically address my autoimmune disease (ulcerative colitis). If you struggle with any type of autoimmunity, these two books have the power to change your life as they have changed mine. I also recommend Nourish: The Paleo Healing Cookbook for delicious and practical autoimmunity-healing recipes.
